Rolling out the red and blue carpet at the premiere for DS Eagles Glad All Over

The DS Eagles, our Down’s Syndrome football team, have recorded a powerful cover of the iconic Palace hit Glad All Over, and we invited them down to Selhurst Park, along with special guests, for a premiere night of their new music video.

Help us open more doors for young people in south London

On Tuesday 15th April, The DS Eagles hit the red (and blue!) carpet to celebrate the release of their new music video. The DS Eagles, our Down’s Syndrome football team, recorded the cover of the iconic Palace hit Glad All Over to raise awareness, challenge outdated assumptions about disability and work, and raise vital funds for young people in south London.

We invited Palace players, our wonderful trustees, patrons, donors, participants and their parents, local businesses and the local media for a night of popcorn and celebration of the DS Eagles’ new hit.

On the night we heard from Ben Perryman, Disability Officer at Palace for Life, and Tony Mullen, Senior Programmes Manager at Palace for Life, who both outlined their passion for supporting young people, and (with a tear in their eye!) some of the success stories from the wonderful DS Eagles team.

Also joining us on the evening was, Palace player, Fliss Gibbons, who has been instrumental in the DS Game On programme this year, supporting the team outside of her footballing duties.

We also heard from Thomas, DS GAME ON participant, who praised our Game On programme, citing how it gave him the confidence to try new careers, resulting in his first job as a receptionist at Savills. We also heard from his Dad Francis who told the audience how the programme has supported the whole family too.

This was all as part of the DS GAME ON programme, a new project that combines our DS Eagles work with our flagship employment programme, GAME ON. GAME ON is a year-long course helping people with Down’s Syndrome build skills and confidence for the workplace, partially funded by the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association.

They trained as baristas, explored careers in caring and cooking, and even recorded and produced their own track, the one you’ll hear on this page. Their journey shows what’s possible when people are given the chance. Last year, our wider GAME ON programme supported 164 young people across south London.
