Annual Mental Health Tournament a Success

The Foundation’s annual Adult Mental Health Tournament took place at the Selhurst Sports Arena, with teams from across London and the south-east all competing for the trophy.

Over 40 players, who have all experienced low levels of mental health at some point in their lives and are currently working towards long term good mental health, came together with the idea of winning a football tournament to help provide them with a positive goal to work towards. The tournament was very competitive and played in a good spirit, with all the teams having the opportunity to play a number of games in a round robin format.

It was a close finish to the tournament, with Brixton Pumas falling one goal short of winners Status Addicks. This was despite a victory over Croydon Eagles in a tense final game, where Status were cheering on Croydon Eagles from the side-lines.

Foundation Disability Manager Michael Harrington observed “It is great to see so many people play at such a high standard and with smiles on their faces. Opportunities such as these can make a real difference to the lives of often marginalised people in our communities.”
