Palace win at Spurs!

Saturday 10 April saw Palace Women’s Walking Football team competing in a tournament hosted by Tottenham Hotspur. Team member, Catherine, provided the match report below.

“Palace for Life Foundation Women’s Walking Football Team participated in a tournament hosted by the Spurs Foundation over the weekend. Due to covid regulations only 4 teams were permitted to take part and the competition was run on a league, semi-final and final basis.

Having won all our matches in the league beating Spurs, Bedford and Orient, we finished top of the league and faced Spurs in the semi -final. Despite going behind, Palace fought back to win 4-1 and went on to play Bedford in the final.

Bedford started the stronger and took the lead. Shortly after Palace equalised, Bedford once again went in front 2-1 but some great team play and goals from Jules and Tania ensured Palace eventually finished as 4-2 winners.

Being without our regular keeper, a special mention should go to Jackie who played the majority of games in goal and did an amazing job.

Squad: Mary, Jackie, Jules, Catherine, Tania, Lisa, Helen and Annie.”
