Support local families this Christmas: Foodbank appeal

You can now help to support local families this Christmas by donating to our foodbank appeal, which is open to fans every home matchday in December. Or, if you can’t make it to Selhurst Park, you can make a financial donation to programmes that provide free hot food and sporting activities for children on free school meals.

Foodbanks are preparing for their worst winter yet, according to the foodbank charity The Trussell Trust. They expect to provide more than one million emergency food parcels across the country between December 23rd and January 2nd. That’s one food parcel every eight seconds and 7,000 people seeking support each day.

With the help of our sponsor, Utilita Giving, we are inviting Palace fans to support local families with the continuing cost of living crisis by calling for donations of long-life food items and essentials to our Christmas Foodbank appeal, which is running at Selhurst Park throughout December.

All items donated will be distributed by the Brixton and Norwood foodbank and will be given to local families who are facing the challenging of rising living costs.

Last year, Palace fans made a huge impact on the community by donating a whopping 550 essential items to our appeal and raised nearly £800 towards our Holiday, Activities and Food programme, which provides free hot meals and sporting activities during the school holidays for children on free school meals.

WHAT SHOULD I DONATE?

The Brixton and Norwood foodbank are currently looking for a variety of tinned items such as: tinned soup, tinned tomatoes, tinned fish, tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding and tinned custard.

Non-food items are also important, like: shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, toilet rolls, washing-up liquid, sanitary products and laundry detergent pods.

If you can’t make a game, you can donate to our Holidays, Activities and Food programme, which gives hot meals and sporting activities to young south Londoners who are on free school meals.

Check out the video below to see what they’re all about.

WHEN CAN I DONATE?

You can bring your items along to any matchday at Selhurst Park, starting with our game against Bournemouth on the 6th of December. The last game you will be able to donate to the foodbank appeal is on the 30th December, when Palace play Brentford.

The games you will be able to donate in the Fanzone are:

  • Vs. Bournemouth – 6th December
  • Vs. Liverpool – 9th December
  • Crystal Palace Women vs. Chatham Town – 10th December (VBS Community Stadium)
  • V.s Brighton – 21st December
  • Vs. Brentford – 30th December

There will be a collection box in the Fanzone and a member of Palace for Life staff there to collect your donation.

If you would like to donate on a non-matchday, you can drop items off directly at our offices Monday – Friday between 9am – 5 pm throughout December, or you can make a donation to our Holiday, Activities and Food programme here.
