DO IT YOUR WAY: Fundraise for Palace for Life in the Virtual TCS London Marathon

Palace for Life have three spaces for the Virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon, on the 2nd October up for grabs.

14th April 2022

On Sunday 2nd October, thousands of people from over the world will be taking part in the Virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon and the Palace for Life Foundation are calling on three dedicated Palace fans to be a part of it.

The Virtual TCS London Marathon is slightly different to the mass event, as it gives participants the freedom to take on 26.2 miles in their own way, on the route of their choice, at any time from midnight to 23:59 on Sunday 2nd October 2022 – the same day as the mass event in London.

Palace for Life have three spaces up for grabs. It’s only £28 to enter (for successful applicants) and each runner will need to raise a minimum of £400 (for successful applicants) for the Foundation to take part. For more information on the marathon click here.

The deadline to register is 24th June and to register, click here:

There are plenty of ways that participants can do the Virtual Marathon in their own way:

  • Run or walk at your own pace, on your own circuit.
  • Invite friends & family to join you along the route.
  • Receive a Palace for Life technical running t-shirt or vest.
  • Get fundraising support and resources.
  • Join 40,000 people around the world.
  • Make a difference to the lives of young people in south London.

Participants will receive a TCS London Marathon finisher’s New Balance T-shirt and medal, and will be posted to finishers after the event.

Palace fan Kieran Bailey ran the Virtual Marathon for Palace for Life last year, and had some advice for anyone thinking of signing up this time:

“When you’re raising money for the Palace for Life Foundation you really do feel like you’re making a difference to the local community. To anyone thinking of competing in a challenge then this would be something I’d highly recommend. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. The most rewarding part for me was the finishing, not the time it took.”

By joining in the virtual TCS London Marathon and fundraising for Palace for Life, participants can help transform the lives of young south Londoners like Abdullah, who has hugely increased his confidence through our Get Involved sessions, which provide playing and career pathways into sport specifically for the Asian community.

Abdullah is now coach on the Palace for Life Get Involved project, but this hasn’t always been the case. He started as a participant at only 6 years old before being introduced to coaching and is now a paid member of staff.

Abdullah told us how the Get Involved programme helped him:

The Get Involved programme aims to increase physical activity specifically in those from Asian backgrounds by removing barriers these individuals may have previously had had to sport.

We anticipate a lot of interest in places and so are asking everyone to complete this short application form. We will make a decision on the successful applicants and contact everyone by Friday 27th May 2022.
