Chances

Working with Lambeth Council, Palace for Life Foundation are delivering the Chances project in Stockwell, Norwood and Brixton.

Aimed at 10 -17 year olds the programme focuses on engaging children and young people by using sport and other activities to help them reintegrate or reengage with education, employment and other positive pathways.

Examples of project delivery:

  • 1-2-1 Mentoring
  • Street Soccer Academy – 10 week football/employability programme for 15 -17 years olds that aims to support young people to develop employability skills, transferable soft skills i.e. confidence, public speaking etc and  football coaching skills whilst giving them the opportunity to play 90 minutes of football. During programme all participants will also get kit to really feel part of a team and have the opportunity to play other football clubs at St George’s Park!
  • PFL Pizza Fridays – A new initiative which follows a similar structure and theme to a ‘youth club’ young people are invited to come eat, play games, socialise and interact with other people their age and Palace for Life staff. Workshops and activities will also be available and support will be given by Palace for Life trained staff and external partners. This is a great opportunity to have informal chats with young people and provide advice/mentoring.
  • Trade Training Programme – A mixture of workshops and sessions providing young people with expert knowledge and advice for working in various trades and admin. This is programme that will develop employability skills, confidence, team building and also give real practical experience. With a close link to organisations within the construction, mechanics and admin sector participants will get a real life insight to working in these areas through work experience and trip opportunities.
