A record-breaking Marathon March for South London: 251 Marchers and £110,000+ raised!

From Selhurst Park to South London and back again, Palace fans once more showed what makes our club special. 251 incredible Marchers took on the 26-mile Marathon March, raising over £110,000 (and counting!), our highest total yet!

Record-breaking: £110,000+ raised, 251 Marathon Marchers.

On and off the pitch, Palace are making history, and we’re proud to mirror that passion through our work in the community.

Bright and early on Saturday 11 October, 251 Palace fans set off from Selhurst Park for a 26-mile journey across South London, walking together in support of Palace for Life.

Did you know? Around 20% of donations come in after the event, so there’s still time to show your support!

This year, our Marathon Marchers proudly wore the famous red and blue, with the number 9 featured on the back, a tribute to Palace legend and Palace for Life patron, Mark Bright, in honour of our ninth Marathon March. The shirt also featured a special ‘Winners’ sleeve, celebrating Palace’s historic victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

Palace royalty joined us for this year’s March, with three club legends, Mark Bright, Andrew Johnson, and Fliss Gibbons, completing the 26-mile challenge. And it wasn’t just local fans taking part; we were joined by supporters from around the world, including Kent, Mikael, and Tomas from Sweden, and Jen Prout from the United States!

We’re extremely grateful to our sponsors for this year, Brooks Running, who have sponsored us to empower our Marchers to go the distance while championing our mission to make a difference in the community through the power of sport. You can find out more about our partnership here.

This years route was flatter, and friendlier on the legs but still packed with the same South London spirit. Marchers were also surprised this year with free ice cream to get them through the final couple of miles, a welcome treat after 24 miles of walking!

At the finish line, Marchers were welcomed by the DS Eagles team, who proudly presented them with their medals. Participants then enjoyed a lap of honour around the Selhurst Park pitch before heading upstairs to capture a special photo with the FA Cup and Community Shield, a fitting way to celebrate a remarkable day of achievement.

While this year’s March is over, there’s still time to help us further break the fundraising record!

Every donation is hugely appreciated and will support three key areas of our work:

  • Increasing access to free physical activities for young people
  • Expanding our 1-2-1 mentoring programme
  • Helping more young people into employment
