Utilita set to power Palace for Life Marathon March
Palace for Life Foundation is delighted to announce that Utilita Energy will again the headline sponsor for the Marathon March taking place on Saturday 13 October.
The Marathon March powered by Utilita, is a 26.2 mile charity walk from Selhurst Park to Trafalgar Square, via Richmond Park, taking in famous London landmarks, such as Big Ben and the London Eye, raising money to support young people across south London.
More than 150 Palace fans are taking part in the event, which is being led by Palace legends Andy Johnson, Mark Bright, Neil Shipperley and Andy Gray. Palace chairman Steve Parish will also be taking part, having walked the final five miles of the route in 2017.
Steve Parish said: “I have seen first-hand the amazing work the Foundation does to inspire young people to make genuine, long-lasting changes to their lives. In 2017, I was inspired to see so many Palace fans come together for the Marathon March in support of the Foundation’s work and that is why I have decided to take part this October.
“The Marathon March is a unique way for south Londoners to support the Foundation and raise vital funds to help the community, I’m really looking forward to the challenge”.
The walkers have already raised £20,000 for projects to help the Foundation reach vulnerable young south Londoners, and with support from Utilita will aim to reach even more.
Jem Maidment, Director of Marketing & Communications, Utilita Energy said: “The Marathon March is a fantastic event that we are delighted to support once again for 2018 – we are very proud of the close links we have with the club and the Palace for Life Foundation. The March brings the Palace community together – it supports good causes and an event like this strengthens our ties in South London, which is something we will continue to do in the future.”
Mike Summers, CEO, Palace for Life Foundation added: “The Marathon March is our most significant event of the season, so to have Utilita Energy confirmed as our headline sponsor again for 2018 is fantastic. Last year we raised more than £67,000 to directly benefit our work with young people in the community and with Utilita’s support, we now hope to be even more ambitious this
year.”
