Nine things you’ll love about the Marathon March
2025 will be our ninth Marathon March, a flagship event in the calendar for Palace fans during the October international break. If you’ve not taken part yet, here are nine things we reckon you’ll love about it...
The Marathon March is now in its ninth year and has secured its place in the calendars of hundreds of Palace fans. It’s a marathon, but instead of running, we walk, talk, and make new friends and connections on the way. This year, it’s taking place on Saturday 11th October 2025, during the international break.
To pay homage to our ninth year, here are nine things we think you’ll love about the Marathon March.
You can sign up to the Marathon March here.
1.) Get your Palace fix when there’s no game
The Marathon March always lands during the October international break – perfect timing if you’re missing your Palace fix. You’ll spend the day with around 200 fellow fans, chatting all things Palace and finish at Selhurst Park.
2.) You’ll do a lap of the pitch at the end
Your legs might be feeling it after 26.2 miles, but there’s always a bit of energy left for a lap of honour around the Selhurst pitch. It’s a brilliant photo op, and a rare chance to soak in the unique charm of our home from pitch level.
3.) You’ll genuinely be making a difference to young people in South London
Every penny you raise goes towards the areas that need it most. That could mean buying kit for our free football sessions, or paying for a young person’s interview clothes – the things that really matter.
4.) You’ll feel great having completed a tough challenge
We won’t lie, the Marathon March isn’t easy. But the sense of achievement afterwards is huge. Plus, you’ll be able to brag about it on Strava.
5.) You’ll meet like-minded people
Everyone taking part shares one big thing: a love for Crystal Palace. So, whoever you meet, there will be something to talk about!
6.) Free food
Do we need to say more? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even a free drink at the Palace party to round it all off.
7.) Something to train for
Whether you’re looking to boost your fitness or just need a reason to get out for a walk, the Marathon March is a great goal to aim for. Sometimes we all need that extra motivation.
8.) Familiar faces
In previous years, we had some recognisable names join us for all or some of the walk, including Mark Bright and Andy Johnson!
9.) It’s just a really, really good day
There’s something special about it, the sense of togetherness, the challenge, the laughs, the cause. By the end of the day, tired legs and all, you’ll understand why so many people come back year after year.
