Marathon March: south London – route announcement!
The Marathon March returns in 2020, but this time we’re focusing our route on the home of Crystal Palace F.C. and Palace for Life – south London.
The Palace for Life Foundation Marathon March is back in 2020 and the charity walk will feature a brand-new route that focuses entirely on south London, the home of Crystal Palace F.C.
The marathon-length walk will take place on Saturday 10 October 2020* and will be running for the fourth consecutive year, bringing together Palace fans, legends and supporters. The safety of walkers will be our main priority and the latest government guidelines around social distancing will be followed strictly. Walkers will register and start in timed ‘waves’, to avoid any unnecessary congregation and the venues for all rest stops will be thoroughly cleaned between groups arriving.
The Marathon March will start and end at Selhurst Park. The route sees us pass through Crystal Palace park and Bromley before we dip into parts of the Greenwich Meridian Trail and the Vanguard Way trail. We will then ‘march’ through Croydon before making our way back to our home in SE25.

Palace for Life Foundation Chief Executive Mike Summers has joined fans and legends to walk the full route every year, and on this year’s event he said:
“We are really excited for the 2020 Marathon March and to have the opportunity to bring Palace fans back together and reunite them with Selhurst Park. We’ve had a fantastic three years of the Marathon March and are always blown away by the support we receive.
“Everyone’s safety is always of the upmost importance to us; with the challenge of the current climate we will be following government guidelines strictly to ensure the safety of every walker. The Marathon March is always the highlight of our year, and this year is no different, we’re looking forward to seeing lots of new and familiar faces on the day!”
The previous three years of the Marathon March has seen over £250,000 raised for the Foundation. In the past we’ve been joined on the day by Crystal Palace F.C chairman, Steve Parish, comedian and Palace fan, Eddie Izzard and legends Andy Johnson, Mark Bright and Andy Gray.
The fundraising efforts of 130 Eagles fans last year surpassed £75,000, raising funds to help grow the Palace for Life early mental health intervention programme, Team Mates, which encourages children at primary school to talk more openly about their feelings, focusing on social skills and positive psychology.
