Five things to know about Giving Tuesday
With Giving Tuesday coming up on 3rd December, here’s a quick reminder of what it’s all about and how you can get involved with Palace for Life.
1.) What is Giving Tuesday?
Launched in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving to encourage people to support the causes that mean most to them.
For us at Palace for Life, it’s a chance to inspire Palace fans and the south London community to help improve the lives of young people in our area by donating to our cause.
Giving isn’t just about donating though, you can give by participating in a fundraising event like our Bike From Bournemouth fundraiser, volunteering or simply just sharing our work to your network!
This year, Giving Tuesday is taking place on the 3rd December, just after Black Friday, and you can donate to us here.
2.) Why Giving Tuesday?
When it was launched in 2012, Giving Tuesday was a way to shift the focus from consumerism to generosity (as it takes place the Tuesday following Black Friday), giving people an annual day to give back to their communities and support their favourite charitable causes.
In 2022, over £20 million was raised in the UK alone.
3.) Why Palace for Life?
If you’re a Palace fan, or simply just passionate about improving the lives of young people in south London, we’d love it if you considered supporting us this Giving Tuesday.
Your donations make a massive difference to the level of support we’re able to offer young people in our community.
Last year, we worked with over 16,000 young south Londoners and with your help we can work with even more, making our community stronger.
4.) Tackling the challenges
Young people face a variety of complex challenges in south London; from unemployment, mental health issues and a lack of support services. By using the appeal of Crystal Palace F.C., we’re able to reach young people who may unreachable to traditional support services.
5.) Where could my money go?
The money you donate this Giving Tuesday could go towards:
- Putting on more one to one mentoring sessions for young people struggling with their mental health
- Supporting our employment team with putting on short courses with qualifications for young people
- Providing equipment for young people to play football for free, every single week
