Palace for Life launch new Referral Process

Palace for Life launch new Referral Process to help local people receive guidance and support for their individual needs.

Palace for Life Foundation aim to improve the lives of south Londoners through a variety of programmes that focus on creating healthier lives, safer communities and brighter futures for those in our community.

Working closely with partner organisations such as schools, health agencies, and the Met Police, individuals are often referred to Palace for Life in need of support that can be delivered through our programmes and sessions.

Year on year there is a growing need for these services. In response to this need, the Foundation has created a new online Referral Process and triage system, which uses staffs’ expertise to implement or create pathways for individuals specific and realistic to their needs and goals.

Individuals can be referred to Palace for Life for support in (but not limited to):

  • Becoming more independent
  • Improving their health and increasing physical activity
  • Raising their aspirations and setting goals in life
  • Developing social connections
  • Becoming more employable
  • Improving their mental health and wellbeing

Once referred, the individual will speak to a member of Palace for Life staff who will explore more about their needs and goals, and will recommend suitable programmes to help achieve this.

Programmes could include the Breaking the Cycle and Youth Divert 12-week Mentoring Programme, which supports young people who have high-risk factors which may cause them to be vulnerable to or at risk of criminal exploitation and criminal activity.

Individuals looking to get more active could be advised to attend Premier League Kicks sessions where young people can take part in a variety of sports, e-sports and youth hub activities which can lead to volunteering and training opportunities.  Adults may be encouraged to join our walking football, Get Involved or women’s recreational sessions.

Those looking to get back into education or further their chances of employment could join the Palace for Life Traineeship, where they will receive workshops and experiences based around workplace training, money management, social action projects and 1-2-1 mentoring.

On the new Referral Process, Palace for Life Chief Executive, Mike Summers, said: “The launch of the new Referral Process allows us to have a targeted approach when supporting members of our community. The nature of the process allows the triage team to create bespoke programmes unique to the intricate needs of each individual we work with, helping us in our mission to positively change the lives of people across south London.”

Referrals can be made by any organisation, including schools, health agencies, the Police, statutory agencies, community organisations and voluntary organisations. They can also be made by families, carers and individuals themselves who feel that they may need access to services provided by Palace for Life.
