Work Ready and Prepared Traineeship
In partnership with Croydon College, Palace for Life Foundation also offers the PL Works ‘Opportunities for Success’ programme for young people aged 16-19. This helps those who are unsure about what they want to do in the future.
Funded through the PLPFA, our Work Ready & Prepared (WRAP) Traineeship programme has been developed based on our extensive experiences of working with NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) young people between the ages of 16-25. We understand the need to have a programme which combines education and work-based training, to engage with local young people who have for various reasons become NEET. Some young people have negative experiences with education; some experience exclusion whilst some actively seek out work-based training to move into paid work as quickly as possible.
Our Traineeship programmes are delivered to incorporate a wide range of skills and themes, to support trainees into positive progressions across several sectors. We currently have established routes into the following sectors and support young people on an individual basis should their aspirations lie elsewhere:
- Fitness and Leisure
- Schools based roles
There will be 5 themes to choose from and we recruit young people aged 19 – 25 years.
Alongside work-based training and experience, all cohorts will engage in social action projects, money management, digital skills, employability and wider personal and social development sessions. As such, the programme has 5 core components:
- Group taught component
- 1-2-1 mentoring component
- Training and accreditation component
- Work experience/exposure
- Social action/volunteering
To get a place on the programme you can refer yourself or somebody that you know by filling out our referral form, HERE.
Who can make referrals?
Young people not in education, training or employment can self-refer, community referral partners.
