Advantage Mentoring

Advantage is a free one-to-one wellbeing mentoring programme for 14-21 year olds,

What?

Advantage mentoring is a national programme comprising of partnerships between Club Community Organisations (CCOs) like ourselves and local NHS Trusts. At Palace for Life, we currently deliver the programme in Croydon in partnership with SLaM.

Advantage takes the form of weekly 1-2-1 mentoring support for young people aged 14-21 with mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing needs that are unable to access NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). It was first conceived to help tackle NHS waiting times, increase access to CAMHS and reduce health inequalities.

Participants receive weekly 1-2-1 mentoring sessions with qualified Palace for Life staff with expertise in mental health, youth work and mentoring. Sessions support young people by using a goals-based approach with an aim to improve life opportunities and overall wellbeing.

Sessions take place at Selhurst Park Stadium and in the local community and are designed to be flexible and meet the diaries of participants.
