The Mentor will be responsible for enhancing the profile of the Targeted Intervention department/Foundation by establishing links with key stakeholders as well as managing a case load of participants on the Breaking The Cycle programme.

1. Job Purpose

To work within the Targeted Intervention programmes across Croydon, Sutton, Bromley and parts of Lambeth. The Mentor will be responsible for enhancing the profile of the Targeted Intervention department/Foundation by establishing links with key stakeholders as well as managing a case load of participants on the Breaking The Cycle programme.


2. Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Job Summary
  • Support the Targeted Intervention Team in delivering interventions.
  • Handling a caseload of 30 young people assessing needs, assigning mentors and signposting to wider services
  • Produce monthly case studies/log reports on a caseload of young people.
  • Represent Palace for Life on all suitable boards within our boroughs.


03. Knowledge/Experience/Technical Skills and Behaviours
a) Knowledge/Experience/Technical Skills


  • Experience in building and sustaining partnerships relevant to the project.
  • Knowledge of issues that adversely affect venerable individuals.
  • Knowledge of risk and protective factors that are apparent in young people


  • At least 6 months experience working in a mentoring capacity.
  • At least 6 months experience working with hard to reach young people.
  • Experience of working in a mentoring capacity.
  • Experience of managing participants on a 1:1 basis.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple deadlines across different projects.
  • Experience of data collection and monitoring frameworks.

Technical Skills

  • Flexible approach to work, able to work out of hours, evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Behaves appropriately, taking personal responsibility for own actions and setting a good example for other colleagues




·         Educated to Degree level

·         Youth Work qualification

·         DBS checked


  • Proven track record of working with disadvantaged groups including gang members, those who may have been exposed to sexual exploitation and/or those who may be on the verge of being expelled from education.
  • Experience of using Rickter Scales and Rag Ratings.
  • Experience of constructing meaningful case studies that show impact of work.

Technical Skills

  • Car driver/owner – clean driving licence.

Be able to produce support plans and risk management plans based on assessments.
