1. Job Purpose
As part of the school’s team for Palace for Life Foundation you will be responsible for delivering and coordinating the Team Mates Programme helping to support ‘at risk’ KS2 pupils and supporting their positive mental health through early intervention group sessions. In addition you will work closely with our partner secondary school by supporting Year 7’s successful transition to secondary school by providing them with a level of support throughout the year. You will be required to deliver sessions to targeted students as well as managing the in-house peer-to-peer mentoring service.
We are looking for a highly-motivated programme coordinator who believes in the power of sport and the difference a Community Club Organisation can make in the lives of local children and young people.
2. Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Job Summary
Leading the Premier League/ PFA funded Team Mates programme with Croydon and Sutton based secondary schools and its local feeder primary schools.
Aspects of the Team Mates Programme Include:
- To work with our partner secondary school and their feeder primary schools in order to deliver a successful, high impact programme
- Delivering our positive mental health intervention at feeder primary schools throughout the academic year
- Supporting and delivering workshops and assemblies for pupils, students, parents and teachers around mental health
- Supporting the development of Year 10 Mentors and their relationship with Year 7 students
- Organisation and delivery of various events supporting the programme including parents evening consultations, career and aspirational days and mentors training
- Measuring the impact of the programme through various measurement tools
- Updating on-line monitoring and evaluation systems and completing monitoring reports for the Premier League and PFA funding partners
- Liaising with internal and external partners in various parts of the role including: Our partner Secondary School, Primary Schools, Local Authorities, Premier League and any other relevant partners and stakeholders
Other aspects of the role include:
- Support the Primary School Programmes Manager in delivery of the Foundations’ Premier League Primary Stars programme
- Liaising closely with other internal colleagues within the Foundation in sharing of good practice and cross working together.
- Support the creation of media information and case studies/good news stories to measure the impact of the programme.
- Support the administration elements of the programme including data collection & inputting and session compliance
- To commit to other duties required in line with the responsibilities of the post.

a) Knowledge/Experience/Technical Skills
- Possess a relevant degree or qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience of working with young people from different backgrounds
- Good knowledge of mental health related illnesses
- Sound school education knowledge and experience with a proven track record of achievement and project management
- Ability to manage partnerships effectively and concisely so external partners are satisfied with our work
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to record data and analyse results based on key programme outcomes
- A passion and interest in developing a career in the social change sector, particularly supporting young people in Primary and Secondary school education
- The ability to develop and maintain relationships with schools and their staff including head teachers, SENCO and Governors
- Excellent communication/presentation skills both written and verbal
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels within the Foundation, the parent club and high level outside contacts.
- Possess a Mental Health First Aid Certificate
- Possess a safeguarding and first aid qualification
- Possess a Physical Education or Sport Specific coaching qualification
- Possess a current DBS
- Experience of working for a non-for-profit organisation
- Possess clean driving licence
