“I’m marching to give young south Londoners a chance”

The Palace for Life Foundation has been working with the south London community for over 25 years, helping young south Londoners by giving them a chance to find a better path, for a better life, using the power of sport.

On Saturday 7 October 2017, over 100 Palace fans will walk 26.2 miles across London as they aim to raise over £40,000 to raise vital funds to support the work of the Foundation.

We asked some of those taking part in the Marathon March why it was important to them:

“Walking 26.2 miles to try and help raise money for Palace for Life Foundation because they are a fantastic organisation. I now play in the man vs fat challenge league with around 80 other fatties which is brilliant! I personally think the most important part of what they do is for the youth and disabled people in our community. Making it easier for EVERYBODY to take part in sporting activities, and making a real difference to people’s lives.” – Paul Parker [Man vs Fat Participant]

“Having seen first-hand what the Palace for Life Foundation is all about I was inspired to walk this marathon to support the great work they do in encouraging young people in south London from all backgrounds and abilities to make something of their lives through sport and education. Their success stems from a great team who mentor local young people and encourage them to go out into their own community’s (with support) to offer their peers a path way to leading a successful life in whatever they choose to do.” – Alan Ryan [CPFC Communications/Palace TV]

“I’ll be marching many miles from Selhurst Park with friends and supporters of the club, for the Palace for Life Foundation to raise funds for young south Londoners who need our help. I will be walking further than the distance to my car, which does not happen often for me, with my son, Asher in tow! I am a trustee of the Foundation and believe in the amazing work that Palace for Life do in my local community.” – Yama Otung [Foundation Trustee and Solicitor for Morgan Sports Law]

“In memory of Derek ‘Del Boy’ Waller, a lifelong Palace fan who has sadly passed away.” – Stephen Edwards [Fan]
