Senior Football Development Coordinator and Crystal Palace Academy Coach, Stuart Jacob, has identified the five key traits that he has seen in players that have advanced through our pathway to the CPFC Academy:

Foundation Player Pathway – ‘Crystal Clear’

Skill development: Open to all players within south London, come along make new friends and play some football in a safe and friendly environment.

No written feedback is given.

Tier 1: Individual development working on the basic skills of football development, from dribbling, passing, ball manipulation skills and small side games. Invite only centres.

Feedback is given every 12 weeks.

Tier 2: We start to develop game understanding and create different topics from playing out from the back, defending outnumbered, combinations to a finish, attacking movements and use the CPFC principals of play to develop our players.  Players who attend our Tier 2 centre must be at the right level of playing ability to attend and only be invite in by Palace for Life coaching staff or Academy staff.

Feedback is given every 12 weeks.

Technical Advanced Centre: Our technical advanced centre is an extra session available to our current development players and open to new players to, working on advanced techniques in a carousel of development. Each session players will be impacted by four different PFL coaches working on Finishing, receiving and passing skills, ball manipulation skills, S & C (movement work) and 1 v 1 attacking/ defending.

No written feedback is given.

Goalkeeper Development Centre: Open to all players who are looking to develop as a Goalkeeper, PFL coaches will work and develop players on handling, shoot stop, driving techniques and must more.

Feedback is given every 12 weeks.

Players in the player development pathway are not permitted to wear other club shirts.  International, grassroots or plain sports tops are acceptable.
